The German exhibition company UBW and investment company Schenk Consulting are interested in the construction of an international exhibition center in the settlement of Schomyslitsa of the Minsk region, Vasily Romanov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told reporters in Minsk on July 16.
According to him, the German companies consider the territory proposed for the construction of an exhibition center as promising. According to their estimates, the project will demand nearly ?110 million without taking into account the cost of the land and communications.
The participation of the German companies in the creation of an exhibition center was discussed during a visit of German representatives to Belarus in late June – early July 2008. The partners from Germany were offered to develop a draft construction project. “Belarus is interested in cooperation with Germany in the exhibition area. We expect to receive a design project in August 2008. The final decision on an investor for the international exhibition center in the Minsk region will be adopted at the governmental level,” the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.
According to Vasily Romanov, today Belarus lacks of exhibition areas. The issue of setting up a new exhibition center has been raised up long before. The center will consist of 30-40 thousand square meters of exhibition areas, a hotel, a business-center, entertainment and sports facilities.
