CIS to discuss setting up base institutions to train scientific personnel in Minsk

A group of experts to harmonize draft provisions on CIS base institutions to train scientific personnel in physical and technical sciences will convene in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 12-13 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the committee.

It is expected that Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences will acquire the status of a base institution to train scientific personnel in physical sciences, and the status of a base institution to train scientific personnel in physical and technical sciences will be given to Umarov Physical and Technical Institute in Tajikistan.

As base institutions, these institutes will offer training, retraining, and advanced training courses for researchers and university teachers, facilitate exchange of information about experience, innovations, and methodological support in these areas. They will also provide scientific, methodological, organizational, and consultative assistance in studying and teaching physical and technical sciences, carry out joint scientific research, hold international conferences, workshops, symposiums, and exhibitions.

The institutes will also be responsible for reviewing draft legal acts of the CIS that concern activities of base organizations, drawing up relevant reports, offering recommendations on harmonization and unification of legal acts, and exchanging legal acts.

Minsk in top three CIS cities with most interesting program for Fatherland Defenders Day

Minsk has made it into the top 3 CIS cities with the most interesting events and fireworks on the Fatherland Defenders Day (marked on 23 February) among Russian tourists, BelTA learned from the TurStat analytical agency.

“Russians prefer to spend the three-day break from 22 to 24 February traveling abroad,” the agency said.

In addition to Minsk, the top ten CIS cities with interesting tours on the Fatherland Defenders Day in 2020 also includes Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Novorossiysk, Kerch, Tula, Volgograd, Murmansk and Smolensk.

The ranking takes into account the popularity and unique character of Fatherland Defenders Day events.

Athletes from 12 countries to compete at Minsk Triathlon 2020

Over 900 athletes from 12 countries have confirmed their participation in the Minsk Triathlon 2020 which is due in the Belarusian capital on 21 June, one of the organizers of the competitions, Ironman medalist, Chairman of the Council of the Tristyle Triathlon Club Dmitry Tolkachev told the media on 7 February, BelTA has learned.

“The project is gaining popularity. Registration was opened on 12 October 2019. Applications have been so far received from more than 900 athletes from 12 countries,” Dmitry Tolkachev said.

In his words, ten free training sessions will be held starting February to help athletes prepare for the competition.

According to Head of the physical education department of the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus Piotr Voron, the ministry's team will also take part in the Minsk Triathlon 2020. “Our major goal is to build positive attitudes to sport in as many people as possible,” he said.

The Minsk Triathlon 2020 will feature three events: 1/8 Ironman (475m swimming + 22.5km cycling + 5.25km running), 1/4 Ironman (950m swimming + 45km cycling + 10.5km running), 1/2 Ironman (1900m swimming + 90km cycling + 21km running). Children under 13 years of age will be able to take part in the TriKids competition. They will face 500m running race. The Minsk Lady Run will feature a 3000m race. Be Yourself is the slogan of the Minsk Triathlon 2020.

The Minsk Triathlon 2020 is the biggest triathlon event in Belarus, which meets the Ironman international standards. The number of participants will make up 2,000 Belarusian and foreign athletes.

Triathlon is a multisport race that includes swimming, cycling and running.

The competitions are organized by the Sports and Tourism Ministry, Minsk City Hall, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, Minsk Cycling Club, and Tristyle Triathlon Club.

How to use the tourism potential of Myadel region in a new way, they decided at a meeting of the Entrepreneurship Council

Komarovo in Myadel region is famous for its startups. A business incubator works here, where they are always ready to help "novice billionaires." The business incubator supports and promotes projects of novice entrepreneurs: from creating an idea to its implementation and monetization.

On January 29, a meeting of Minsk Oblast Council for the Development of Entrepreneurship was held in Komarova, Myadel region.

The meeting participants discussed the directions of socio-economic development of this region, taking into account the existing tourism potential of this area. Also affected were the development prospects of other areas of the region (for example, Volozhin, Vileika), which have high tourism potential.

Presentations were made on the importance of advertising content and the popularization of regional brands, discussed how best to improve the ecotourism rating in the region and how to attract potential customers.

As suggestions for improving the process of work, ideas were put forward regarding the general brand of the region. The main idea: Mjadelya farmsteads should not compete among themselves, but, on the contrary, “share” customers.

The deputy chairman of the regional executive committee Nikolai Rogashchuk said that in the Minsk region it is planned to create a regional tourist information center by the end of the year. The structure will primarily deal with the positioning of the Minsk region in the tourism sector. We are talking not only about famous objects - Naroch, Nesvizh Castle, but also about industrial tourism. By the way, the export of tourism services in the region is increasing annually. Over the 11 months of 2019, growth was about 113%, Nikolai Rogaschuk specified.
