There, in a mass grave, more than 400 soldiers lie. Representatives of various organizations and residents came to recall those who gave freedom. In gratitude, they laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. And, on the eve of the Victory Day, an apple tree alley was planted in Slutsk.
In addition, a thematic photo exhibition was opened in the city at the People’s Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Slutsk State College.
Also on May 5 Cherven region joined the action. Here, a tribute was paid to Popova Gryada memorial complex. The village was 35 km away. from the Pukhovichi railway station - this was the only way to keep in touch with the partisans. During the last punitive operation, in May 1944, Popova Gryada was burned - 55 residents were killed in the fire. Now every obelisk has flowers. After the war, this village was not restored. Her memory is immortalized in the Khatyn memorial complex.
