“We expect from the CIS Executive Committee, that has years of experience in coordinating the CIS industry bodies and serious professional capacity, practical initiatives to establish cooperation between the member states. First of all, we should join forces to create antiviral drugs and vaccines and to launch their series production, to ensure the smooth operation of transport and freight transport, both the CIS and also international transit,” Vladimir Makei said.
The Eurasian Economic Union has rolled out a number of operational measures to protect people and support the economy, the minister said. The heads of the EAEU member states adopted a joint statement on 14 April. It says that the fight against the pandemic should not severe cooperation links, stop international trade and investment activities.
“I believe that these steps would be fully relevant for the cooperation of all CIS member states,” said Vladimir Makei. In his opinion, it is advisable to think over the measures to strengthen the self-sufficiency of the CIS region, especially with regard to agricultural products, staples and medical supplies.
