The Belarusian government has adopted the program “Strengthening the capacities to detect, counteract and stop illegal turnover of radioactive materials”. This is set forth in the Council of Ministers' Resolution No.281 of 13 May 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.

The State Border Committee will coordinate activities of national government agencies and other stakeholders to carry out the program and oversee its implementation.

The resolution also approves three international technical assistance projects. The project “Building up potential for greenhouse emissions trading and improving the system of monitoring, accountability, and verification in the Republic of Belarus” will be coordinated by the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and the project “Building up capacities of the national calibration service for measuring ionizing radiation” by the State Standardization Committee. The Justice Ministry will oversee the implementation of the third project in juvenile delinquency.
