Belarusian universities launch online course for Colombian specialists

29.06.2020

An online course for specialists from Colombia has been launched by the University of Civil Protection of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and Belarusian State Medical University with support of the Belarusian Embassy in Ecuador, BelTA has learned.

The first international online course “Response to incidents involving hazardous biological, chemical, and radioactive substances” for representatives of Colombian government agencies and research organizations kicked off on 29 June and will be running through 2 July. The idea to organize the course stemmed from the correspondence between the Belarusian and Colombian presidents about the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The most qualified Belarusian experts have designed this course for Colombian specialists taking into account their requests. This project has generated a lot of interest in other Spanish speaking countries, this is why plans are in place to offer it to specialists from other Latin American countries,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ecuador and concurrently to Colombia, Nicaragua, and Panama Nikolai Ovsyanko said.

The course will focus on response to incidents involving hazardous biological, chemical, and radioactive substances and other topics. Colombian specialists will get familiar with Belarus' experience in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
