South Africa seeks cooperation with Belarus' Minsk Oblast

26.11.2020

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – The Republic of South Africa is interested in continuing cooperation with Belarus' Minsk Oblast, First Secretary of the Embassy of South Africa in Russia Sekome Collen Mohuba said as he met with Minsk Oblast Vice Governor Nikolai Rogashchuk on 25 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

“The current ambassador in Russia has completed his mission. A new ambassador will arrive soon. He will also later visit Belarus to present his credentials to the president. The purpose of my visit is to get familiar with the agencies and organizations that closely cooperate with the Republic of South Africa. In particular, I wanted to discuss the interaction between Minsk Oblast and the Free State Province. We are ready to continue contacts in different areas, for example, in the milk and meat trade, the exchange of students for training,” the first secretary of the embassy said.

According to Nikolai Rogashchuk, Minsk Oblast is also interested in cooperation with the Free State Province and South Africa in general. “The mutual trade remains at a high level. Exports are growing. These are mainly mineral fertilizers and haulers. The range of exports, however, can be increased. We hope for further development and strengthening of our relations, both in economic and social sectors,” the Minsk Oblast vice governor said.

The first secretary of the Embassy of South Africa emphasized the country's interest in cooperation with Belarus, particularly in tourism development and the signing of the agreement on visa free travel between the states.
