Thanks to the accumulated snow cover, winter crops are currently doing well, as the more centimeters of snow, the less likely they are to be damaged.
«There are no serious problems yet. We will monitor the situation, but there is already some concern about spring floods. They could lead to soaked crops. Unstable weather conditions can also pose a threat to winter crops, so agronomic services must be prepared for any scenario and take all measures to preserve the foundation for the future harvest,» Sergei Primachenko noted.
He emphasized that farmers are accustomed to working under such pressure, as the weather has been throwing up many surprises lately. Only by completing all agricultural procedures within strictly defined deadlines will losses be avoided.
«Therefore, today, while time still permits, we need to prepare, including by training personnel—from engineers and agronomists to machine operators. This includes sharing practical experience, sharing new approaches, and learning theory—all to achieve results and maintain the position the Minsk Region has achieved,» said Sergei Primachenko.
The Chairman of Minsk Regional Executive Committee’s Committee on Agriculture and Food also emphasized that preparations for sowing are in full swing in the central region: mineral fertilizers are being stockpiled, organic matter is being hauled away, and equipment is being repaired.
«And not only for the spring sowing season, which will be part of the sowing season, but also for forage and grain harvesting. «The planned procurement of spare parts is underway, and all agricultural services are involved in the work, and repair work is also being carried out on their sites,» noted Sergei Primachenko.
