Seeds are available, fertilizer is arriving, equipment is 92% ready: Alexey Kushnarenko on the Minsk region's readiness for sowing

25.02.2026

The start of the sowing campaign is just weeks away, and not only the future harvest, but also the food security of the entire country depends on how well farmers work together. Today, the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, led by Governor Alexei Kushnarenko, discussed in detail the central region's readiness for spring fieldwork. The focus is on the equipment that will go into the fields, seed and fertilizer supplies, and, most importantly, the people. After all, they are the ones who will have to pass this crucial test.

Seed and Fertilizer Supply

As the head of the central region emphasized, all organizational, technical, and financial issues related to sowing have been resolved to date.

We are fully supplied with seeds. Regarding mineral fertilizers, 201 thousand tons of the active ingredient are required. Today, 60% of this requirement is already directly at the farms, the remaining deliveries are proceeding according to the approved schedules.

How much will we sow?

This year, farms in the Minsk region plan to sow spring grain crops on an area of 73 thousand hectares.

Also, 300 thousand hectares will be allocated to corn for silage and grain. Another 38 thousand hectares will be occupied by sugar beets and 5,300 hectares by potatoes, Alexey Kushnarenko listed.

Technical Base

The plans of Minsk Oblast farmers are ambitious, but without reliable equipment, they will remain just pretty numbers on paper.

The region's farms are provided with the necessary range of equipment. There are 1,700 high-power tractors, tillage and seeding units. The overall percentage of their readiness is 92%. At the same time, we have everything we need, including spare parts, to reach 100% readiness.

Personnel

According to the governor, a total of about 6,700 machine operators will be involved in spring field work.

Including this, we plan to involve about 400 people from sponsoring organizations and enterprises. Thus, the Minsk region has everything necessary to carry out spring field work in the optimal time frame and get a decent harvest, concluded Alexey Kushnarenko.
