The national air carrier Belavia will no longer require passengers flying from Minsk to Tashkent and back to present negative results of the PCR test for COVID-19 and other COVID-19 documents starting from 10 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the air carrier.

Belavia's decision came after Uzbekistan lifted entry restrictions related to COVID-19.

Belavia flies from Minsk to Tashkent on Tuesdays and Fridays and back on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

A delegation of Nizhny Novgorod State Engineering and Economics University (Knyagininsky University), headed by Rector Anatoly Shamin, paid a visit to Baranovichi State University, BelTA learned from the Belarusian university.

The Russian delegation got familiar with the educational and laboratory, sports, cultural and creative infrastructure of the university, and the university's achievements in research activities. The round table with the representatives of the dean's offices, heads of the departments, young scientists and the Institute for Professional Development and Retraining of Baranovichi State University focused on specific cooperation avenues.

Rector of the Belarusian university Aleksandr Unsovich presented to his Russian colleagues a set of university proposals on training programs in the network form, organization of guest lectures in priority thematic areas, potential joint projects. First Vice-Rector of Baranovichi State University Vladimir Klimuk outlined topics of promising joint research for participation in the Union State programs, organization of student contests of R&D and innovative projects of young scientists.

Proposals were also made to develop the Olympic movement in the partner universities, organize joint cultural and educational activities.

The parties signed a roadmap of international cooperation between Baranovichi State University and Knyagininsky University in education, science and culture through 2025.

Everyone knows and loves Pushkin's art, Consul General of Russia in Brest Oleg Murashev said during the literary readings dedicated to the poet's birthday and the Day of the Russian Language, BelTA has learned.

"Today's holiday, in my opinion, clearly shows that everyone in Belarus knows and loves Pushkin's art. Each of us loves Alexander Sergeevich in his own way. This is good: there can be no standards here, because Pushkin and the Russian language unite peoples. Love and memory of the great figures of Russian culture know no borders. The things that the leadership of the country and the city of Brest are doing deserve great respect," Oleg Murashev said.

The annual literary readings "My Pushkin" were traditionally held at the monument to the poet, opened several years ago near the Pushkin Brest State University. The event gathered lovers of Russian literature and Pushkin's art of all generations: lyceum students, schoolchildren, teachers, participants of the literary studio of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, members of the Brest branch of the national public association "Russian Society", which is the organizer of the event.

"We have been holding such readings for many years. At first we did it in schools, and when this monument was opened we started to gather here, in Pushkin Garden. There is no clear program because the event is open to anyone. Literary readings gather lovers of the poet's art. The most important thing that unites us is the name of Pushkin," said Svetlana Smirnova, the head of the association of teachers at the Russian Society.

Children and adults recited the poet's favorite poems, pieces from his prose, with passers-by stopping up to listen. At the end of the event, its participants laid flowers at the monument to the poet.

TIBO is highly instrumental in strengthening international cooperation in information technology, Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan said at the opening of the international forum on information and communications technologies TIBO 2022 in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“TIBO keeps evolving, but one thing remains unchanged: it is a large-scale event that brings together all IT specialists of the country,” Konstantin Shulgan said.

Addressing visitors and participants of the exhibition, the minister emphasized that this year's exposition will showcase IT projects in various sectors of the economy and many technological novelties from Belarus and abroad.

At the exhibition, everyone will be able to get answers to their questions. For example, how the ID card works and what public services can be received without leaving your home or office, as well as what Belarusian cities have already introduced mobile-based public services and what else is planned to be done as part of the Smart Cities project. In addition, visitors to the expo will be able to learn about new tools to promote domestic products and to see how the virtualization trend is shaping the real economic sector.

The minister expressed confidence that participation in this landmark event will help build long-term partnerships and promote international cooperation in the IT sector. He wished all participants successful and fruitful work.

The International Forum on Information and Communication Technologies TIBO 2022 will be running until 10 June.

The exhibition is showcasing products and services from well-known manufacturers of telecommunications equipment, hardware and software, mobile and fixed-line operators, developers and suppliers of high-tech products, security systems, intelligent solutions and services for the household and corporate segment, scientific and educational institutions.

The 4th edition of the Eurasian Digital Forum, the 5th installment of the Belarusian ICT Summit and the II Digital Economy Forum will be held at Minsk Arena. The last day of the forum will mark the ceremonies for the internet award TIBO 2022, Belarus ICT Startup Award and the national competition for youth initiatives Agro 4.0.

Historical science is important for countering distortion and falsification attempts,Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a visit to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Minsk on 3 June, BelTA has learned.

"The main task of humanitarian and historical disciplines is to form a historical worldview, national self-consciousness, attitude to the ongoing processes in citizens. Many processes in the world follow a historical spiral. The form and environment change, but the essence of the processes remains the same. Therefore, it is important to understand what happened before us, and learn to project these processes onto modernity. In this context, the importance of historical science for the development of the country cannot be underestimated. It is very important to set the priorities right so that we do not get into trifles, do not do science for the sake of science," Roman Golovchenko said.

He noted that this topic is especially relevant in the Year of Historical Memory. "The state has realized the importance of historical science to counter distortion and falsification attempts," the prime minister stressed. The head of government noted the need to combat foreign historical and ideological concepts, especially on such an important topic as the history of the Great Patriotic War.

Roman Golovchenko visited the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences on 3 June. He attended an archaeological exposition featuring unique exhibits. It reflects the history of the development of archaeological science in Belarus. Structurally, the exposition is built on a thematic and chronological principle. Some of its sections are devoted to the study of the primitive communal period (archaeology of the Stone, Bronze and Early Iron Ages), and others – to the archaeology of the Middle Ages (6th-13th and 14th -18th centuries).

The prime minister also toured of the permanent exhibition of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus "Achievements of Domestic Science for Industry". The head of the Belarusian government was shown the latest developments of Belarusian scientists in new materials, lasers and optoelectronics, mechanical engineering, agriculture, medicine and pharmaceuticals. He was also shown the latest models of Belarusian drones.

This year salaries of healthcare workers will not be lower than those paid last year, Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told journalists during the solemn opening of Mogilev Children's Polyclinic No. 1 on 1 June, BelTA has learned.

Answering the question of journalists what contributes to the retention of medical personnel, the minister said: “Salary is an important factor here. In this regard, Decree No. 131 “On financial incentives for healthcare workers” passed by the head of state provided for paying substantial bonuses to frontline healthcare workers. This move was unprecedented. This year salaries of healthcare workers will not be lower than those last year, although the pandemic has already subsided. The head of state gave an instruction to pay bonuses to a wider range of healthcare workers. A respective document will be passed within a short period of time. These bonuses will be highly instrumental in maintaining the level of wages in the healthcare system,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

Rental housing will be another factor contributing to medical personnel retention. Such housing will be provided by the decision of the head of state. “The decision will redefine approaches to rental housing. It will allow healthcare workers to buy such housing at the residual value after working in the healthcare sector a certain amount of time. This is also an important incentive to keep healthcare personnel at their jobs,” he stressed.

Dmitry Pinevich also spoke about continuous professional training of medical personnel. This training also allows them to receive bonuses. In other words, healthcare workers are financially encouraged to improve their theoretical and practical skills. A good working environment is also important. According to the minister, the new beautiful building of Mogilev Children's Polyclinic No. 1 is a vivid example of this.

Belarus ranks 35th in the End of Childhood Index Ranking 2021 compiled by the Save the Children international charity group, Margarita Devyaltovskaya, head of the laboratory of children's and adolescents' health at the Mother and Child National Research Center, told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“Child welfare is a joint effort of many government agencies, including the child welfare system. We are among the world's leading countries in terms of infant mortality rate, which is record low in our country. This was achieved due to concerted effort of healthcare professionals and government agencies,” said Margarita Devyaltovskaya.

Performance indicators of Belarus' child welfare system are better than those in a number of countries, such as the UK, Denmark, Poland and the USA. “The infant mortality rate in Belarus, which is 2.6% per 1,000 live births, is record low. We have one of the lowest infant mortality rates. This is largely attributed to the creation of several levels of perinatal care in Belarus,” said the specialist.

“Belarus is harnessing the latest in healthcare technology to nurture babies with low and very low birth weight. About 1,000 children are born in Belarus every year thanks to assisted reproductive technology. About 500 free IVF attempts have been made in the Mother and Child National Research Center. The IVF efficiency exceeds 40%, that is, about 40 or more babies are born per 100 free IVF attempts,” the expert added.

She drew attention to the fact that the Mother and Child National Research Center has a breast milk bank that provides milk for all babies, including very premature ones, who receive treatment at the center.

“The child welfare system covers children of all ages. We work a lot with teenagers. There are more than 70 adolescent centers in the country. Their primary focus is to encourage young people to live a healthy lifestyle, prevent sexually transmitted infections, addiction to drugs, alcohol, tobacco,” said Margarita Devyaltovskaya.

The spring field work has been completed on schedule, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Leonid Zayats said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“The spring planting is over. The main focus was on nonfood crops - flax, rapeseed, sugar beets. Forage crops were also planted. We managed to amass a significant amount of mineral fertilizers (an increase of 1.3 times over last year). About 1.3 million tonnes of organic fertilizers were used. The entire spring planting was done within the agrotechnical time frame,” Leonid Zayats said.

Speaking about the expansion of arable land, he noted: “The area under sugar beets was expanded up to 95,000 hectares, or 10,000 hectares more than last year. More flax was planted in Minsk Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast, the area under spring rapeseed was also expanded,” the deputy prime minister said.

Belarus is proud of the fact that a number of Belarus natives stood at the origins of Israeli statehood, Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said at an event on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Israel at the House of Friendship in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

"Today is a special day for Belarus and Israel - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations," Sergei Aleinik said. “Belarus and Israel have maintained traditionally friendly, warm and open relations. Closely intertwined human destinies and cultures in historical retrospect is a solid foundation for the friendship and partnership between the countries."

"It is difficult to find another country in the far abroad as Israel where a whole galaxy of our compatriots had played an outstanding role in public administration, the development of science, economy, art - up to the revival of the Hebrew language. 29,000 Ukrainian nationals have arrived in Belarus since 24 February, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee.

"From 6.00 on 24 February to 6.00 on 27 May, 29,008 citizens of Ukraine entered Belarus. 15,797 came to Belarus from Ukraine, 11,492 - from Poland, 1,477 - from Lithuania, 242 – from Latvia," the State Border Committee said.

143 Ukrainian nationals entered Belarus in the past 24 hours. Two came from Ukraine, 111 - from Poland, 24 - from Lithuania and six - from Latvia,” the State Border Committee said.

The committee recalled that foreigners who arrive in the Republic of Belarus in the wake of the social and political situation in Ukraine, including from the territory of other countries, do not need a PCR test (certificate) to enter the country. Belarusian checkpoints are operating in a routine mode.
