MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – A modern-day international passenger transit terminal will be built at the National Airport Minsk by 2014, BelTA learnt from director of the airport Dmitry Melikyan. “The National Airport Minsk is going to transform by the IIHF World Championship which will be held in Belarus in 2014. The airport will serve more passengers and improve the quality of the service,” Dmitry Melikyan said. According to him, possible options are being considered to implement the transit terminal project. “We have not decided yet whether we will construct a new terminal or just upgrade the existing one,” Dmitry Melikyan added. When asked about the construction of the second runway at the airport with the use of a Chinese loan, Dmitry Melikyan noted that the project has been delayed a bit. However, this will not affect the operation of the airport. More than 1,000 aircraft operated by the airlines from 94 countries fly through the airspace of Belarus. Their number grows every year. The Minsk National Airport constantly strengthens its technical capacity, increases the level of aviation security and quality of service for passengers. The airport complex consists of the airfield, air-terminal complex, cargo terminal, onboard catering shop, objects of engineering infrastructure. БЕЛТА
