Dzerzhinsky poultry plant first in CIS to get international quality certificate DZERZHINSK, 17 May (BelTA) –The Dzerzhinsky poultry plant was awarded an international quality certificate that allows it to promote products to the European market, director general of the plant Leonid Zayats told reporters. In 2012, the award to Dzerzhinsky was handed over by the Swiss Institute for Quality Standards as advised by the European Business Assembly. For two years a representative commission from the EU monitored the activities of the plant, examined veterinary safety. The experts concluded that the poultry produced at Dzerzhinsky can successfully compete with similar products of European manufacturers. Dzerzhinsky is the only poultry plant in the CIS that has been awarded this certificate. “This is another step towards the European market. We supply products to Russia and Kazakhstan. Countries from the Islamic world are showing a great interest in our products. We have plans to expand into Europe, and the international certificate will prove very useful in this,” Leonid Zayats said. Dzerzhinsky is a large integrated agro-industrial holding company. It was formed through the merger of Dzerzhinsk broiler poultry plant with seven underperforming farms. Today, the company produces about two-thirds of the gross domestic product of Dzerzhinsk district and nearly 20% of poultry products. The company operates a closed cycle of poultry production from the incubation of eggs to the sale of finished products in its own retail network. The company also produces fodder, additives, premixes and protein-vitamin additives, grows cattle and fish and has its own Transport Department and the tourist facility Stankovo. Every year the company increases its output and product range which now features more than 300 kinds of semi-finished and finished products from poultry. Large investment projects are underway. Over the past five years, the company has built 32 hen houses, incubation facility, dairy complex for 3,000 head, grain drying facilities. Dzerzhinsky was the first in the Belptitseprom system to receive the certificates of conformity to the integrated management system for the manufacture and storage of broiler chicken meat. In 2008, it received the right to mark poultry with Organic Product label. БЕЛТА
