MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Businessmen from Belarus and Ryazan Oblast of Russia will work to expand economic cooperation, implement joint projects and boost investments. This statement was made at a ceremony to open Business Cooperation Days Minsk-Ryazan in Minsk on 18 September, BelTA has learnt. “We hope that Ryazan companies not having contacts with Belarus yet will establish them and find areas of mutual interest. We also hope that companies that have been collaborating with Belarusian partners for years will strengthen economic ties. In short, it is up to businessmen,” head of the SME promotion sector of the Ryazan administration Anton Fomin said. In his words, the Ryazan administration remains committed to close cooperation with Belarus. Representatives of Minsk City Council, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee and the FEZ Minsk administration introduced the Russian guests to innovative opportunities of Minsk and the oblast. “Raising investments is a priority objective of the oblast,” said Andrei Gubkin, head of the foreign economic links department of the economy committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. He said that the region offers a variety of land plots to suit investors’ needs. The Business Cooperation Days included a business match making session featuring Belarusian and Ryazan companies. The Russian delegation included representatives of 16 companies producing air conditioning equipment, security and fire alarms, wireless optical communication equipment, laser meters and solutions, and companies involved in metal working and metal coating, retail and wholesale trade in foodstuffs, and cargo transportation. The Belarusian delegation featured representatives of 48 companies. After taking part in the business match making session, the Ryazan businessmen are set to visit Minsk Automobile Works and the international exhibition World of Metal 2012.
