MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Five motorway cafes will be built in Minsk Oblast by the end of 2013. The cafes will be located in Volozhin District, Vileika District, Stolbtsy District, Krupki District, and Smolevichi District, Tatiana Ablyak, Head of the Trade and Services Department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, told media on 28 August.
BelTA has learned that the development of motorway service in Minsk Oblast and the progress in implementing the program Belarus Roads, which is designed to run in 2006-2015, were discussed at a session of the Minsk Oblast Council of Deputies on 28 August.
Two roadside pubic catering outlets have been commissioned in Minsk District and Dzerzhinsk District this year. Tatiana Ablyak said that there are plans to commission 24 more by 2016, including seven in 2014 and ten in 2015. The representative of the Minsk Oblast administration said that modern outlets offering national cuisine are being built. They will be accessible by people with disabilities and will have parking lots. In other words, the outlets will comply with certain requirements introduced by the government. The official also said that investors are eager to build such outlets in Minsk Oblast it is where major motorways are located. The construction of roadside cafes is rather vigorous.
At present there are 147 public catering outlets on sides of roads in Minsk Oblast, over 30% of all the outlets of the kind in Belarus. Only 15 outlets are located along regional roads while all the other ones use national and international roads. “Investors are more willing to build outlets at major motorways in order to secure profitable operation,” stated the representative of the Minsk Oblast administration.
She also said that they were working for the arrival of an investor from Greece, who is willing to open a fast food chain in Belarus. Land plots fit for the outlets are being selected now.
Apart from that, existing facilities are being remodeled. Five public catering outlets will be re-opened after reconstruction along the motorway M5 Minsk-Gomel by 2016. Investors are busy exploring the possibilities the motorway offers. Two old outlets have been demolished and five land plots have been allocated for development purposes.
Tatiana Ablyak stressed that roadside public catering outlets should be built alongside other kinds of motorway service outlets. “It is a promising business avenue and we require investors to build shops and public catering outlets in conjunction with other motorway service outlets. Investors have to take it into account as they launch construction projects,” said the official.
All the motorway service outlets in Minsk Oblast are being built at the expense of proprietary savings of corporations, investors, and loans. The state budget does not allocate money for building public catering outlets, specified the representative of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
