Slutsk Local History Museum has announced it has acquired a Slutsk belt, which is regarded Belarus' national historical and cultural treasure. Starting from 24 January the town residents and tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Return of a Slutsk Belt exhibition which will be running in the museum for two months.
The admission is free, said the museum researcher Vasily Tishkevich. It so happened that until now there was not a single belt in Slutsk, the cradleland of belts. According to Vasily Tishkevich, a private collector approached the museum and proposed to acquire the belt. Art experts of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus established the authenticity of the belt. It was made by Slutsk Manufactory between 1762 and 1780.
