Swiss-Belarusian electric transport factory in Fanipol to open in March

03.03.2014

The first order the new factory will execute will be the production of double-deck trains for the Russian transport service provider Aeroexpress LLC
MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – The Fanipol-based Swiss-Belarusian factory designed to make electric transport will start working as early as late March 2014, BelTA learned from Peter Spuhler, the owner and the president of the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group, on 28 February.
“As far as the construction progress is concerned, we are on schedule. We will begin manufacturing here as early as late March,” said Peter Spuhler.
The first order the new factory will execute will be the production of double-deck trains for the Russian transport service provider Aeroexpress LLC. Stadler Rail AG has won an international tender in Moscow and is supposed to supply the customer with 25 passenger trains by 2016. The trains will be manufactured by the Belarusian factory starting with the fourth train.
Peter Spuhler remarked that it is a very important order for the company and for the Fanipol-based enterprise. “The trains will connect three airports with the city of Moscow. They will implement the latest mechanical engineering technologies: light aluminum structures, which are very energy-effective,” said the owner and the president of Stadler Rail Group.
Peter Spuhler visits Belarus quite often (every 6-8 weeks) in order to personally oversee the factory’s construction progress. In his words, no problems have emerged so far. “We have received very good support from the Belarusian side,” he remarked. He went on saying that certain difficulties may arise in April during the production launch phase. “Some difficulties are bound to emerge, but I think we can handle them,” Peter Spuhler was confident.
The Stadler Rail Group head said that 70 Belarusian specialists are already being trained in Switzerland. They will return to Belarus in late March while another 50 specialists will leave the country to take the same kind of training. After that specialists from Switzerland will arrive in Belarus to help commission the factory.
