Land in minsk oblast for investment projects only via auctions

06.03.2014

Land plots in Minsk Oblast will be made available within the framework of investment contracts only via auctions, BelTA learned from Minsk Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro. “Several people at once are willing to lay their hands on every land plot in Minsk District while private business is reluctant to go to district capitals. However, it is wrong to give the lands to anyone, who has managed to talk to the oblast governor. No land plot in Minsk District will be given away,” remarked Semyon Shapiro. The Governor underlined that it will apply to everyone. “Everything must be done in an honest, transparent, and open manner. Everyone should be in equal conditions,” he said.
The Governor drew attention to the operation of enterprises willing to get lands in Minsk District. He gave instructions to check the degree of manufacturing localization and work out relevant recommendations for each enterprise. “We don’t want every component of a product imported and assembled here. Sometimes it costs more than importing a finished product,” remarked the official.
He also suggested introducing punishment sanctions into investment contracts. “For instance, an investor takes land to build a refueling station and a children’s daycare center. He builds the refueling station and stops at that. After that he is ready to keep the station and give back the rest of the land. But everything will be done in line with the law and everyone will be treated equally. If you fail to build, the land will be taken away. No privileges,” remarked the Governor.
The Minsk Oblast Governor also heard out people’s complaints and petitions regarding the construction and repair of living premises, the construction of roads, the accomplishment of lands in horticultural societies and dealt with other matters.
