Over 110 entries will be showcased at the Minsk Oblast festival of preschoolers and elementary school students that will be held on 29 March, BelTA learnt from the Minsk Oblast Education Development Institute. The entries submitted by elementary school students will be presented in four sections – Mathematics, Physics, Technology; Natural Science (organic nature); Natural Science (inorganic nature); Humanities. The young researchers will tell the jury whether water has color, how to get fabric from nettle, whether soil bacteria have an impact on plant growth and many other interesting facts. They will also show how to make an air balloon and home-made soap. The jury will include representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, and the Minsk Oblast Education Development Institute. The program of the festival includes an exhibition of research projects, an exhibition of paintings Science Through the Eyes of Children, and a show Ximikids where children will conduct experiments in chemistry and physics. Roundtable sessions will be arranged for parents and educators. This year over 50 specialists from Lithuania and Latvia will attend the festival in order to study Belarus’ practices. These are representatives of the Vilnius Pranciskus Skorina Gymnasium, Trakai Education Center, Vilnius Association of Teachers of Russian Schools, educational institutions of Marupe Municipality of Latvia and the S.T.A.R.S association (Riga). The major objective of the festival is to identify, support and nurture talent, fulfill the intellectual and artistic potential of children. Such events have been held in Minsk Oblast since 2010. The jury selects the best entries that won local contests and festivals. The festival is organized by the education department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee and the Minsk Oblast Education Development Institute.
