BelAZ ships its vehicles to Russia for far north works

07.04.2014

The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ (Zhodino) has replenished the fleet of mountain-road and auxiliary machinery of OAO Olkon (Olenegorsk mining and processing plant, Russia) this year, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Industry Ministry of Belarus. The Belarusian company shipped two rock haulers BelAZ-75137 (130t payload) and bulldozers BelAZ-78231 to Russia. “The region provides extremely difficult mining and geological conditions and harsh climate: the Olenegorsk mining and processing plant in Murmansk Oblast in the most north mining and processing enterprise of Russia,” specialists said. The plant operates on the raw material produced at the Olenegorsk iron-ore deposit. Rock haulers BelAZ-75137 are designed for the operation under the most complicated conditions. Founded in September 1948, the Zhodino-based automobile engineering company Belarusian Autoworks (BelAZ) was incorporated into a public joint-stock company in 2010. As of October 2012 OAO BelAZ is the management company of BelAZ Holding, which comprises six enterprises. BelAZ specializes in making mine dump trucks, frontal wheeled loaders and bulldozers, tow trucks, special vehicles for underground operations, heavy-duty trucks for metallurgy industry, and other specialized vehicles. BelAZ accounts for a third of the global market of rock haulers and is a leading global supplier of quarry machines. The first rock hauler BelAZ-75137 was shipped to Olenegorsk in 1998. Today the Russian company uses 18 Belarusian rock haulers with the 130t payload.
