The other top ten most profitable companies include the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (Br435.9 billion), Gomeltransneft Druzhba (Br163.6 billion), Naftan (Br156.2 billion), Grodno Azot (Br154.4 billion), Grodno Tobacco Factory Neman (Br132.2 billion), Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (Br116.5 billion) and Gomel Chemical Plant (Br111.2 billion). Dairy companies, sugar refineries and construction companies also posted good net profit in the first quarter. The report of the Finance Ministry contains information about the financial results of Belarusian open joint-stock companies, except for commercial banks, for the first quarter of 2014. The Development Bank is covered by the report because it is not a commercial bank, it specializes in financing government programs and does not provide retail banking services.
