Stadler to assemble over 20 double-decker trains for Russia

15.09.2014

Swiss-Belarusian joint venture located in the town of Fanipol will assemble the bulk of double-decker trains meant for Aeroexpress, the Russian company providing intermodal and local rail transport services, BelTA learnt from Stadler Minsk.
Commissioning and start-up operations will be done in Belarus, after that the trains will be shipped to Russia. The first four trains will be assembled in Switzerland, while the remaining part – 21 trains – will be assembled in Fanipol. The welding of four cars has already been completed at the joint venture in Fanipol. The company has started the painting works and the final assembly of the first double-decker train manufactured in Belarus.
The trains will be delivered to the experimental ground in Shcherbinka near Moscow where they will be tested and certified. The commercial operation of the first train will start in June 2015, while the last train will be commissioned in June 2016.
Stadler Rail Group became a strategic partner of Aeroexpress after winning the international tender announced in Moscow in 2013. In May 2013 the companies signed a contract to supply 25 double-decker trains to Aeroexpress. Sixteen of them will consist of four cars and nine will have 6 cars.
