Yazyl Ten marathon to bring together about 2,000 people

19.09.2014

The national marathon Yazyl Ten will be held in Staryye Dorogi on 27 September, BelTA learned from the Staryye Dorogi District Executive Committee. There will be separate nominations for boys and girls, men and women.
About 2,000 people are expected to take part in the marathon. A 2km “corporate run” will bring together teams from all over Belarus, not only Minsk Oblast, as it used to be. The organizers will present awards for the best creative team and the biggest team. The participants will compete in various age groups and nominations like Staryye Dorogi Run (60m), Five Hundred (500m), Belarusian Verst (1,097m), Mini-Marathon (3,375m) and Yazyl Ten (10km).
Winners and runners-up in all the nominations and age groups will be awarded medals, diplomas and souvenirs. The best in the Yazyl Ten nomination will get prize money (10 men and 10 women). The winners will get Br6 million each.
The festival was established in 1988 when a track-and-field event took place in the village of Yazyl, Staryye Dorogi District, for the first time. The festival aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, to encourage more people to start exercising, and to identify promising track athletes.
The festival is organized by the Sports and Tourism Ministry, the sports and tourism department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Staryye Dorogi District Executive Committee, the Belarusian Athletic Federation, the Minsk Oblast branch of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
