Stadler to deliver first double-decker trains to Moscow in November

05.11.2014

OAO Stadler Minsk will deliver the first double-decker trains to the Moscow company Aeroexpress in November 2014, BelTA learned from the enterprise.
“At the moment the factory is working on the project that is of great importance for Stadler. The project provides for the production, adjustment, and delivery of 25 double-decker Kiss trains to the Moscow-based Aeroexpress,” specialists said. The first trains were assembled in Switzerland, and the pre-commissioning works were carried out in Fanipol. The remaining 21 trains will be assembled at the facilities of the OAO Stadler Minsk.
The specialists emphasized that the delivery of the trains to Moscow almost coincides with the official opening of the Stadler Minsk factory scheduled for 20 November. “The opening of the new factory and launching of the production process are significant events not only for the Stadler company but also for our partners and our potential buyers,” the representatives of the company noted.
The construction of the OAO Stadler Minsk production facilities has been completed. The administration buildings are currently under construction. One office has already been opened.
The joint venture OAO Stadler Minsk was set up by OAO Belkommunmash Holding Management Company and the Swiss company Stadler Rail AG in 2012. The construction of the new factory designed to implement large-scale projects in the CIS countries and Eastern Europe was started in April 2013. The first startup complex of the Belarusian-Swiss factory was commissioned in December 2013.
Director of OAO Stadler Minsk Vladimir Korol told BelTA earlier that the project to start manufacturing electric transport at the factory in Fanipol was advancing quite successfully. He noted that the factory is the CIS' first and only company to make electric transport of all types not only for railroads but also for cities.
