Satellite towns of Minsk will specialize in different areas. This was announced on November 12, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Architecture and Urban Development Pavel Luchinovich.
"Satellite towns in any case shall not be considered as a residential area. In these cities will provide not only a comfortable living environment of citizens, but also create new jobs. We can say that each satellite town will specialize in a certain field of activity . For example, the machine-building becomes Fanipol city. Smolevichy will be developed together with the Sino-Belarusian industrial park. Minsk also has high hopes for Rudensk "- said Pavel Luchinovich.
Projects for development of future satellite cities are developing specialists BelNIIP urbanism. It is expected that the development of satellites allow to settle around 130.000 people. This Minskers and those citizens of Belarus that could potentially move to the capital.
By 2017, the volume of housing construction in Minsk will be reduced by almost half. So, if in 2014 in the capital should be built 1 million square meters of housing, then in 2015 figure was 900.000 sq. m, while in 2016 and 2017, respectively, reduced to 750.000 sq. m. and 600.000 sq. m.
