Russia partially lifts ban on Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky

18.12.2014

Rosselkhoznadzor has partially lifted its ban on the supplies of products made by Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky and Smolevichi Broiler, says the letter of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) to the chief veterinary officer of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
According to the letter, taking into account the preliminary results of the checks Rosselkhoznadzor decided as possible to allow the imports of poultry, by-products and hatching eggs of Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky and Smolevichi Broiler to Russia as of 17 December 2014. The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia made a request to certify the abovementioned products bound for the imports to Russia only after all the discovered violations are rectified.
At the same time Rosselkhoznadzor believes that the traceability record in the manufacturing process of final products and semi-products at Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky and Smolevichi Broiler is not transparent and efficient enough. In this respect the service maintains restrictions on the import of the aforesaid products to Russia. The resumption of supplies is possible after all the discovered violations are rectified, the corresponding documents are provided and repeat checks of the companies are conducted by Rosselkhoznadzor specialists, the letter says.
As was informed, in early October 2014 Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on food supplies from more than 20 Belarusian companies due to the alleged incompliance with the norms and standards of the Russian and Customs Union legislations.
On 4 December the decision was made to lift the ban on the supplies of the Kalinkovichi Meat Factory to Russia. The veterinary services of the two countries agreed on joint checks of the Belarusian enterprises which supplies were restricted. Three groups of Russian specialists arrived in Belarus to check the companies in Brest, Mogilev, Gomel Oblasts and Minsk.
The issue was also discussed by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Moscow on 10 December. According to EEC Council member Sergei Rumas, First Vice Premier of Russia Igor Shuvalov instructed Rosselkhoznadzor to abandon prohibitive measures on the supplies of Belarusian food products and check the companies. On 11 December the ban on the supplies of the Gomel and Zhlobin meat plants and the Vitebsk broiler poultry factory was lifted. The Skidel agricultural company and the poultry factory Rassvet resumed their supplies to Russia on 12 December. Rosselkhoznadzor allowed meat supplies from Bereza Meat Packing Plant and Belovezhskiye Delikatesy as of 15 December 2014.
