I Festival of creativity of children with hearing impairment "Joy to hear the world" will be held on June 4, in the sanatorium "Seaside" in the Minsk region, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Health.
The festival will be attended by children with cochlear implants carriers, their parents, as well as the stars of Belarusian pop, representatives of the Belarusian Women's Union, Youth Union, and guests from near and far abroad. The event will be held under the patronage of the Ambassador of Goodwill of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Iskui Abalyan.
Creativity Festival is intended to show the achievements and successes of talented children with cochlear implants. This event - not just a fascinating pastime and an important stage of rehabilitation, inclusion in the diverse world of sounds, noted in the Ministry of Health.
According to Director of Centre of otorhinolaryngology Lyudmila Makarin-Kibaki, cochlear implantation is one of the most effective methods of rehabilitation of children with permanent hearing impairment, which allows you to hear and understand speech. Belarus native cochlear implant systems are more than 500 patients. After a successful operation, children with congenital deafness or deafened able to recognize sounds almost immediately after the first turn on the processor. The purpose of rehabilitation of young children with a cochlear implant - to teach the child to perceive, distinguish and recognize environmental sounds, to understand their meaning and use this experience for the development of speech.
"The task of health workers, educators - is not only a return hearing children, but also learn to understand the surrounding sounds, adapted to the child's perception of the manifold of the world", - said director of the RSPC.
The festival is organized by the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Otorhinolaryngology.
