Minsk region and Chinese Guangdong sister-city intend to develop
cooperation in the spheres of culture and education. This was reported
today by journalists from Belarus and the PRC Chairman of the Minsk
Oblast Executive Committee Semyon Shapiro, BelTA has learned.
According to Semyon Shapiro, Belarus and China pay special
attention to cooperation at the regional level. For example, with regard
to the Minsk region, its twinning is the province of Guangdong - one of
the most economically developed Chinese regions. He said that during
the last meeting with the leadership of the twin-city province, there
were discussed many promising areas of cooperation, including the
establishment of air communication. In addition, the parties discussed
issues related to education, culture and sports.
At the same time, the most important ones on the agenda are
trade and economic, investment projects. "We must create such economic
conditions that it would be beneficial for China's business to come to
Belarus," said the chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.
As examples of the most successful investment interaction, he led the
industrial park "Great Stone" and a joint venture "BelJ" for assembling
cars.
Semyon Shapiro is convinced that it is interesting for China to
come to Belarus taking into account its membership in such integration
associations as the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth of
Independent States. In turn, Belarus is interested in creating new jobs
and employment in the workplace with decent conditions and earnings.
