An inclusive bird-watching site will be opened in Volozhinsky district

04.09.2017

An inclusive bird monitoring site will open on September 1 in the Volozhinsky district, BelTA learned from the UNDP office in Belarus.
The local initiative "Bird in the lens" is implemented by the Volozhin rural executive committee on the project "Local development in the Republic of Belarus", which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program. The initiative is aimed at increasing the tourist potential of the Volozhin district by developing an infrastructure for ecological tourism.
The first object of ecological tourism for observation of birds was created and equipped in the Zamostyany village. The observation deck will be a favorite place for fans and professional bird watchers who, through binoculars and telescopes, will be able to observe waterfowl and waterbirds in their natural habitat on the shore of the Sakovsch reservoir. The site is equipped with everything necessary for photographing birds. Representatives of UNDP and the EU in Belarus, local authorities will take part in the opening ceremony.
The viewing platform is located on the green tourist route "Volozhinsky Gostiny", which provides an opportunity to walk along ecological paths, drive along several bike routes, rafting along the river, stopping at local agro-sports. The birdwatching site will be a good addition to this tour route. Now locals and guests of the district will be able to engage in another type of eco-tourism - berdvotching. Using the capabilities of this facility, students can apply their knowledge in practice and act as guides.
The observation deck is barrier-free, so older people and people with disabilities will be able to join the new kind of leisure.
