The ban on visiting forests has been lifted in 76 districts of Belarus, including fully in the Mogilev and Gomel regions, as well as in most regions of the Minsk and Grodno regions, the press service of the Ministry of Forestry told BelTA.
Restrictions still apply in 42 districts, including almost all districts of the Vitebsk region (except for Beshenkovichi and Postavy) and throughout the Brest region. “As for the Minsk and Grodno regions, the ban is lifted in most regions. It continues to operate only in three districts of Minsk (Myadel, Logoisk and Pukhovichsky) and four districts of Grodno region (Grodno, Berestovitsky, Volkovyssk and Svislochka). Under favorable weather conditions, restrictions will be operatively removed in other regions ", - noted in the press-service.
The website of the Ministry of Forestry has an interactive map on which you can track the lifting of restrictions by region. Decisions on the introduction and removal of the ban on visiting forests are made by local authorities at the request of forestry institutions or district emergency departments.
As reported, since the beginning of the year in Belarus there have been more than 320 forest fires on an area of over 1.2 thousand hectares. The area of three large fires is still being specified and is not included in the total figure. To fight the fires, the Ministry of Forestry has 257 fire and chemical stations and 660 fire equipment points. 545 fire trucks are used, as well as more than 360 barrels for supplying water, 355 fire-fighting modules for operational extinguishing, 1800 motor-pumps and 12.6 thousand knapsack sprayers. For the early detection of forest fires, a network of more than 620 fire observation towers and masts has been created, of which over 530 are equipped with video surveillance equipment. UAVs are used to track the boundaries of fires and determine their areas.
April this year in Belarus was the driest in the last 75 years. During this month, an average of 7 mm of precipitation fell on the country, which is 18.2% of the climatic norm.
