Landfill "Prudishche" within Minsk from August 1 will not accept waste

24.07.2019

Starting August 1, the reception of industrial waste for burial at the Prudishche site in connection with the preparation for decommissioning it stops, BelTA learned from Igor Suharevich, head of the production and technical department of Ecoreus UE.
“From August 1, we practically stop accepting waste for burial at the Prudishche site. We plan to accept only those waste that can be used to isolate the last layer of waste at the landfill — mostly it will be soils. I think it will take several months. Then, on the territory of the landfill, work will be carried out on its improvement and preparation for reclamation, ”said Igor Suharevich.
After the closure of the Prudishche landfill on August 1, in the presence of permits and contracts, waste will be received at the only Trostenetskiy landfill in Minsk. Not only legal entities, but also individuals can take waste to this landfill. The conclusion of contracts for receiving waste from individuals is carried out at the site.
Every month, from January to June of this year, the Prudishche test site received an average of 12 thousand cubic meters of waste. For comparison - in 2017, these figures were at the level of 30-35 thousand cubic meters. As for the “Trostenetsky”, the load on it significantly increased two years ago, due to the closure of the “Severny” test site on October 1, 2017. Naturally, after the decommissioning of the Prudishche landfill, the total amount of waste accepted for burial at the only landfill operating in Minsk will slightly increase. Again, for comparison, in 2017 “Trostenetsky” received 205-210 thousand cubic meters of waste every month, this year about 500 thousand cubic meters.
Landfill for industrial waste "Prudishche" (area - 22 hectares) is located near the village of Kolyadichi, Minsk region. It was put into operation in 1968 - it is considered the oldest ground in Minsk and the Minsk region. Over the entire period of its operation, about 22.6 million cubic meters of waste were taken to the landfill.
