Zero injuries: experts discussed current issues of occupational safety

05.05.2025

Occupational safety specialists and engineers from enterprises and organizations of the district gathered in the Kopyl experimental forestry enterprise for the district Occupational Safety Day, dedicated to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Zero Injury Week.

The venue was not chosen by chance, because the enterprise pays a lot of attention to occupational safety. In addition, this institution, together with the Kopyl Territorial Social Service Center, were recognized as the winners of the district competition for the best organization for occupational safety in 2024.

Using the example of the workshops of the fuel pellet production section of the woodworking shop of the Kopyl experimental forestry enterprise, the participants of the seminar studied how the production of pallets and edged lumber is organized, what living conditions are created for workers and much more. The tour of the facility was conducted by Director Sergey Mikolaevsky and competent specialists who spoke about the forms of work they carry out in the production sphere, the positive results of their activities and long-term plans.

The main part of the seminar program was also eventful. Addressing those present, Deputy Chairperson of the Kopyl District Executive Committee Irina Yukho noted:
— Ensuring healthy and safe working conditions is our constant task. And it is events like today that allow us to clearly demonstrate how this should work in practice.

According to the head of the Slutsk interdistrict department of the Minsk regional department of the Department of State Labor Inspection Elena Gurinovich, the main causes of accidents include failure to conduct briefings and check knowledge of labor protection with workers, internships at the workplace, mandatory medical examinations, examinations for alcohol intoxication, non-compliance of workplaces, equipment, vehicles, tools and devices with labor protection requirements, and others. She also announced administrative liability for violating the law and labor protection requirements.

Inspector of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Kopyl District Department of Internal Affairs Alexander Baychuk spoke about road safety. Assistant to the hygienist of the sanitary and epidemiological department of the Kopyl district Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology Antonina Gordievich brought to the attention of those present the sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the working and living conditions of employees, the maintenance and operation of production facilities, emphasizing the importance of observing laboratory control.

It should be noted that this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work is dedicated to the topic «Revolutionary approaches to occupational safety and health: the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization in the workplace.» Therefore, using the positive example of Vestagroservice LLC, the chief specialist of the social and labor relations department of the labor, employment and social protection department of the district executive committee Angela Bunyak and the seminar participants considered the issues of using the latest technologies in terms of labor protection and safety, including a welding robot and the latest laser installation.

— Safe working conditions are the most important priority for every organization in all industries. Approaches to ensuring them are constantly being improved, including with the use of the latest technologies. The artificial intelligence system is one of the promising areas of process digitalization, — the speaker concluded.

The event was a clear demonstration of how modern approaches and attention to detail allow not only to preserve the health of employees, but also to increase labor efficiency. Participants had the opportunity to ask the speakers questions of concern and hear competent answers.
