Vyacheslav Kolyachko, Deputy Chief Physician of the Minsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, held a working meeting with the staff of the Kopyl Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. The main topic of discussion was the formation of a healthy nation as the foundation for the country’s sustainable development.
In his speech, Vyacheslav Vasilyevich emphasized the uniqueness of the Belarusian model: «Belarus has retained an effective budgetary health care system, while many countries have abandoned this principle. Our 5% of GDP on medicine is a conscious choice in favor of the health of citizens. For comparison, in Russia this figure is 3.7%. »
The expert highlighted the key components: state support — free medicine and programs for mothers and children. In addition, the responsibility of citizens — a culture of prevention and a healthy lifestyle, as well as a systemic approach — from ecology to sports development.
— The Constitution guarantees the right to health, but we can only realize it together — through medical examination, vaccination and a conscious attitude to prevention, — noted Vyacheslav Vasilyevich.
Particular attention was paid to water safety.
