Recently, there have been more frequent cases of theft and fraudulent actions against elderly citizens.
The first deputy head of the internal affairs department of the Kopyl district executive committee, police lieutenant colonel Dmitry Lipnitsky, comments:
— As a rule, criminals, under the pretext of selling (buying) various goods, things and food products, posing as employees of the social protection service, medical workers and other persons, enter the homes of lonely pensioners, where, taking advantage of their gullibility, they steal money, gold items and other small valuables. Often, elderly citizens, as the most vulnerable category of our population, are more susceptible to criminal attacks by cybercriminals.
In order not to become a victim of scammers, it is necessary to observe the following precautions: always check the information received; under no circumstances disclose, including via the Internet and mobile communications, your personal data (codes, bank card details, passport number, logins and passwords); do not transfer your bank card or mobile phone to third parties; when receiving calls from people introducing themselves as bank employees, remember that a bank employee will never ask for your personal card information.
