Latvian and Swedish companies may become the main investors of the construction of a wind farm in the Dzerzhinsk region of the Minsk oblast, BelTA learnt from Semen Kundas, the Rector of International Sakharov Environmental University. The overall power of wind turbines will make up 25 MWt. “Companies of Latvia and Sweden have showed a great interest in the project and they are ready to take part in it. They highly appreciate Belarus’ potential for developing the wind-power branch,” Semen Kundas noted. The main investor will be determined by the tender which is expected to be announced next year. The tender is to be organized in line with the programme of the wind-power branch development for 2008-2010. “The document is expected to be adopted in the near future. After this, all the terms of the project will be known. A plot of land for the wind farm construction will be identified,” Semen Kundas said. According to the rector, a demonstration ground of renewable power sources have been organized on the base of ecological park Volma in the Dzerzhinsk region. It features a rotor wind turbine, a solar module, an autonomous bladed wind turbine, a microhydro power plant. At present, students of International Sakharov Environmental University are on probation there. In the future, Belarusian technical specialists from the various companies engaged in business, energy area or agriculture will be trained in this ecological park. In the future the ecological park Volma will have the special centre which will provide Belarusian companies with the information about the possibilities and advantages of usage of renewable power sources in certain regions of Belarus.
