The Minsk oblast produces 26% of the total milk production in Belarus, BelTA learnt in the agricultural and foodstuffs committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. As of November 1, the average milk production per a cow in the Minsk oblast made up 4291 kilogram of milk. Five regions of the Minsk oblast exceeded 5 thousand kilograms of milk. In 2008, four regions of the oblast are projected to exceed 6 thousand kilograms milk per a cow. The total milk production in the oblast will reach 1 million 356 thousand tonnes of milk. Stockbreeders of the Minsk oblast also have good results. In 2008, they will produce 290 thousand tonnes of meat (without poultry – 203 thousand tonnes). They are expected to produce 84 thousand tonnes of pork, 115 thousand tonnes of beef (111% as against 2007), 87 thousand tonnes of poultry (114%). According to specialists of the agricultural and foodstuffs committee, stockbreeders of the Minsk oblast try to boost milk and meat production due to new technologies and scientific methods. In 2008, they reconstructed more than 200 cattle houses, assembled 250 milk pipelines. In 2009, 22 new cattle houses are expected to be constructed. New automated cattle farms with the use of the up-to-date foreign experience will be set up in the Nesvizh, Cherven, Pukhovichi and Smolevichi regions. БЕЛТА
