Five regions of the Minsk oblast have concluded the cooperation agreement with the Sunik region of Armenia. The inked agreement will promote the development of economic ties between the two countries, Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Krupets noted during his meeting with Governor of the Sunik region Surik Khachatryan on December 10. “The agreement has been signed by the Borisov, Nesvizh, Myadel, Soligorsk and Slutsk regions. We have agreed on new supplies of automobile equipment, woodworking products, medicines and foods to Armenia,” Leonid Krupets noted. The Minsk oblast of Belarus and the Sunik region of Armenia cooperate within the framework of the agreement on trade and economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation. The agreement was concluded in October 2004. The economic basis of the interregional relations of the Minsk oblast and Armenia are the supplies of BelAZ products to the companies of the Armenian minerals industry. In January-October 2008, the foreign trade between the Minsk oblast and Armenia made up $5.1 million including the export of goods - $4.8 million, the import - $0.3 million. The Minsk oblast posted a surplus in trade with Armenia at the amount of $4.5 million. The main exports of the Minsk oblast to Armenia were trucks, parts and equipment for trucks and tractors.
