In January-November 2008, the Minsk oblast invested more than Br5095.5 billion in fixed assets and construction branch, or 26.9% up over the same period of last year, BelTA learnt from the Minsk Oblast Statistics Department. Over the eleven months 2008, construction companies of the region carried out building and assembly works at the amount of Br2239.9 billion, or 24.5% up in comparable prices over the same period of 2007. In the period under review, the construction companies purchased construction equipment and specialized vehicles at the amount of Br2167 billion, or 134% as against January-November 2007. In January-November 2008, the Minsk oblast assigned Br906.9 billion for the construction of housing and social facilities (8.1% up over the same period of last year). In the period under review, the Minsk oblast commissioned 885.4 thousand square metres of housing or 94.2% of this year’s task. The share of the state-run companies in the total number of the commissioned housing in the region was 3%, the housing-construction cooperative societies – 20.1%, individual real estate developers – 60.3%. In the period under review, 6.3% houses more were built in the Minsk oblast as against the same period of 2007. According to the Minsk Oblast Statistics Department, in January-November 2008, the Minsk oblast assigned Br750.9 billion for the construction of non-production facilities (without housing), or 52% up over the same period of last year. In particular, the region invested Br63.3 billion in the construction of medical establishments, Br6.2 billion – educational establishments, Br0.4 billion in the construction of kindergartens, Br4.4 billion – cultural centres.
