In 2008, Br2.9 trillion was invested in the economy of the Minsk oblast (25% up as against 2007), Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Krupets told the session timed to the 90th anniversary of the BSSR (Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic) establishment, BelTA has learnt. The Minsk oblast plays an important role in the economic development of Belarus. Products of the Belaruskalii Production Association (Soligorsk) and the Belarusian Automobile Plant are widely known all over the world. According to Leonid Krupets, the industrial complex is the basis of the economy of the Minsk oblast. It produces almost 16% of the total volume of consumer goods of the country. More than 900 people took part in the session timed to the 90th anniversary of the BSSR establishment. These were heads of the regions, the town of Zhodino, representatives of labour collectives, distinguished people of the region, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic of the Belarusian National Assembly, deputies of the Minsk Oblast Council of Deputies, delegations of Minsk, former leaders of the Minsk oblast.
