MINSK, April 3 (BelTA) – The Minsk oblast of Belarus and the South-East administrative district of Moscow are going to expand cooperation in economic and social areas. Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Krupets and Prefect of the South-East Administrative District of Moscow Vladimir Zotov signed several agreements on cooperation for 2009-2012 in Minsk on April 3. “These agreements will help us determine the avenues of the further cooperation and the action plan for the measures dealing with social, tourism and economic areas,” Leonid Krupets noted. Moscow is the most important trade and economic partner of the Minsk oblast. In 2008, the trade between the Minsk oblast and Moscow upped by 7.2% to reach around $400 million. The export of the Minsk oblast to Moscow made up $296.2 million, up 11.8% as against 2007; the import was reduced by 4.1$ to reach $102 million. The Minsk oblast posted a surplus in trade with Moscow at the amount of $193.8 million. The Minsk oblast successfully exports its products to Moscow owing to the commodity distribution network which is represented by BelAZ, Belaruskali, Electromodul (Molodechno), the Slutsk Sugar Mill, the Gorodeya Sugar Mill. There is a Molodechnomebel (furniture manufacturer) chain store in the South-East administrative district of Moscow. During the visit of a delegation of the South-East district of Moscow to Minsk, the sides reached concrete agreements on supplies of the Minsk oblast-produced goods to the Russian region. Prefect of the South-East Administrative District of Moscow Vladimir Zotov noted that the cooperation between the regions will help Belarusian and Russian companies successfully work during the global financial and economic crisis. The delegation of the South-East administrative district of Moscow led by Prefect Vladimir Zotov is in the Minsk oblast on a visit (April 1-3). The Russian delegation has already visited BelAZ and the Borisov Meat-Packing Plant. On April 3, the delegation is expected to visit Snov Agricultural Company. In January 2009, the trade between the Minsk oblast and Moscow hit $17.6 million. The Minsk oblast posted a surplus in trade at the amount of $12.4 million. Minsk oblast’s main export to Moscow were meat and dairy products, eggs, electrical equipment, spare parts for trucks and tractors, furniture, knitted goods, medicines and other goods. In turn, the Belarusian region imported plastic articles, monofilament, machinery, tea, footwear and other goods. БЕЛТА
