MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – A delegation of the Minsk oblast will take part in the economic forum in Carinthia (Austria) in September, Zhanna Birich, head of the economy department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA. A delegation of Carinthia led by Walter Reinhard Prutej, director of the Austrian economic forum for Central and Eastern Europe, are in the Minsk oblast on a visit on 28-30 July. On 28 July the delegation traveled to the Borisov and Berezino regions. On 29 July they met with seniour officials of the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Belarusian State Economy University, Minsk free economic zone. “The two sides have identified a number of avenues for possible cooperation – the construction of a rubbish incinerator plant in the Borisov region, investments in the bakery industry, the cooperation of the economic universities of Belarus and Austria (students and professors exchange, research work), the cooperation in tourism. During the economic forum, the sides are expected to conclude concrete agreements on these issues. The necessary documents to implement the projects will be prepared by September,” Zhanna Birich noted. The Minsk oblast and Carinthia concluded a cooperation agreement in September 2008. The foreign trade between the two regions made up $5.1 million in January-May 2009. Belarus had a deficit in trade with the Austrian region. There are 17 enterprises with Austrian capital in the Minsk oblast. The Minsk oblast exports furniture, pipes and timber to Austria. The Belarusian region imports trucks, cable ware, equipment for grading and breakage of soil and stones from the Austrian Republic. БЕЛТА
