MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – A trading house to promote products manufactured by the enterprises of the Minsk oblast is to be set up in Baku (Azerbaijan). This statement was made by Ziyad Samadzadeh, Chairman of Milli Majlis Standing Commission on Economic Policy of Azerbaijan, member of the Belarus-Azerbaijan intergovernmental group for cooperation, at a meeting at the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. According to Ziyad Samadzadeh, the establishment of such a trading house could help boost the bilateral trade. “Belarus manufactures many products that can be sold in Azerbaijan. We are particularly interested in the supplies of meat and dairy products. Other promising cooperation avenues include tourism, agriculture; we might set up joint productions and tourist centres,” the Azerbaijani guest added. Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Krupets believes that it is necessary to further develop the mutually beneficial cooperation. He thanked the Azerbaijani side for taking part in the celebrations dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Minsk liberation from the Nazi invaders. “We have developed good relations with your country; the most vigorous cooperation has been established between the Nesvizh and Ismailli regions. I hope that we will be able to find new areas of mutual interest,” Leonid Krupets said. In January-July 2009, the trade between the Minsk oblast and Azerbaijan totalled $9.3 million. Exports amounted to $9.1 million. The supplies of drugs doubled to make up $1.7 million, the exports of milk and condensed milk soared 5 times to reach $0.5 million, those of cookware and dishware rose up 4.5%. The Minsk oblast started to supply canned vegetables to Azerbaijan. The Belarusian region imports vegetables, fruits and nuts. The oblast had a $8.9 million surplus in trade with Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani delegation is visiting the Minsk oblast on 10-13 September. Azerbaijani businessmen have already visited Svitanak, Borisov Meat-Packing Plant and Borisov Dairy. On 11 September they are to meet with Belarusian businessmen at the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They will also visit Bigzz hypermarket and Euroopt store. The Azerbaijani guests are invited to attend Dazhynki harvest festival of the Minsk oblast that will be held in Liuban on 12 September. БЕЛТА
