MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – A delegation of the Brazilian State of Goias led by its Governor will visit the Minsk Oblast on 18-20 February, Leonid Krupets, Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, told a press conference on 12 February, BelTA has learnt. During the recent visit of the Brazilian delegation to the Minsk Oblast, the sides determined the possible ways of cooperation. The Goias State is interested in supplies of Belarusian machinery (the guests visited BelAZ and the Minsk Tractor Works) and potash fertilisers. The Minsk Oblast is interested in import of the Brazilian protein materials. The cooperation in education and health care system is possible as well. “I believe that during a meeting with the Governor, we will discuss these issues,” Leonid Krupets said. He also noted that we know the Latin-American markets not very well but the Minsk Oblast supplies some goods to Venezuela and Cuba. The countries of the Latin-American region show an interest in Belarusian construction equipment, the official added. Leonid Krupets noted that the Minsk Oblast promotes the interregional cooperation and develops friendly relations between towns. In 2009 the Minsk Oblast traded with 140 countries. The region supplied its goods to 106 countries. The Russian Federation is the main trade partner of the Minsk Oblast. At the same time, the Minsk Oblast increases the trade with other countries including India, Brazil and Germany. All in all, the region concluded 68 agreements and protocols on cooperation with the CIS and other countries (38 agreements with Russian regions, 16 – Ukraine, 5 – Kazakhstan). A lot of foreign delegations visit the Minsk Oblast. In turn, in 2009 Minsk Oblast’s delegations visited Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Such interregional ties have a positive impact on the economy of the region, Leonid Krupets noted. For instance, the Nesvizh Region of the Minsk Oblast cooperates with one of the Azerbaijani regions. The sides established contacts in agribusiness. Moreover, Azerbaijan will construct a bakery plant using Belarusian technologies. БЕЛТА
