complex in the Smolevichi Region, BelTA learnt from the Minsk oblast executive committee. The alley of limes was laid down on 14 November. Taking part in the event then were officials of the oblast authorities, regional divisions of the Belaya Rus association, Communist Party of Belarus, Belarusian Agrarian Party, the Union of Poles of Belarus, Belarusian Republican Youth Union, Belarusian Union of Women, the Republican Party of Labor and Justice. The development of the Mound of Glory complex was continued during the nation-wide subbotnik. Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky, chairman of the oblast executive committee Leonid Krupets, officials of the Council of Ministers Office took part in the subbotnik in the memorial complex. More than 120 trees were planted in honor of the Heroes of the Soviet Union, Social Labor and Heroes of Belarus, natives of the Minsk Oblast. The event was initiated by veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The residents of the Minsk Region made a great contribution to the defeat of the Nazi invaders. Big combat operations took place in the Minsk Region during the Great Patriotic War. There were three partisan units of the total number of 55,000 in the region. Minsk region natives were awarded the high title of the Hero of the Soviet Union of courage and heroism. Seven residents were awarded the Order of Glory of all classes; dozens were presented with military orders and medals. Among the heroes are the organizer of the partisan movement Vasily Korzh, resistance movement members Elena Mazanik, Marat Kasei and others. The Minsk Oblast has been awarded two Lenin’s Orders for patriotism, selfless labor, courage and valor during the Great Patriotic War and for the achievements in restoring the national economy.
