MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – In 2010 the Minsk Oblast intends to increase investments in innovation projects by 30-40%, Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Boris Batura told a session of the committee on 27 May, BelTA has learnt. According to the Governor, the investments which are expected to be assigned for promising production facilities and companies of the region are not sufficient. Boris Batura demanded that the region should double investments in the near five years. Chairmen of the regional executive committees should be attentive to any investor whether it be a big company or a businessman, Boris Batura stressed. The main thing is to create new working places, make a competitive product, the official underscored. According to Boris Batura, the innovation projects should be in every region. “The region has good examples of using investments,” the Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee noted. According to Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Valery Skakun, in line with the state innovation development program 2007-2010, the Minsk Oblast is expected to implement 46 innovation projects at the amount of Br299.1 billion. Some 12 of them are the projects on setting up new production facilities, 20 – the projects on setting up new production facilities at existing companies, 14 – modernization projects. The region has already carried out 26 projects including 9 projects in the food industry, 7 projects in the energy industry, 3 projects in housing and public utilities. Since 2007 the Minsk Oblast has spent around Br210 billion, set up more than 230 working places, produced products at the amount of Br178.8 billion. According to the schedule, in 2010, the region is implementing 20 projects at the amount of Br87.3 billion. Some 16 production facilities are expected to be launched this year. In January-April 2010, the region spent Br26.6 billion (30.4% of the annual plan), created 25 working places. Participants of the session also discussed the problems related to implementation of the innovation projects foreseen for 2010. There are some problems in implementation of the investment projects at the Berezino Cheese Making Plant, the Starye Dorogi Fruit-and-Vegetable Processing Plant, the Vileika Affiliate of the Molodechno Dairy.
