MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – A tour, Around Edward Wojnilowicz’s estates, has been developed in Kopyl District to mark the 100th anniversary of Sts Simon and Helen Church in Minsk (the Red Church). The Belarusian journalists has recently got familiar with the tourist potential of Kopyl District, BelTA learnt from deputy head of the department for physical education, sports and tourism of the Minsk Oblast executive committee Elena Brok. The tour includes the Lopukhi estate in the village of Dunayevo. The estate was owned by Wojnilowicz in the second half of the 19th century, the Wojnilowicz family estate Savichi, St. Archangel Michael Church in the village of Timkovichi. Edward Wojnilowicz (1847-1928) was a well-known political and public figure. He came into the history as a founder and patron of the Red Church. The decision to build up the church was taken by him and his wife, Olympija, in memory of died children, Simon and Helen. They put their money into the construction of the church with only one condition that the church would be built up upon their project. According to Elena Brok, similar tours will be soon organized in other districts of Minsk Oblast. “People should know about the history and sights of their land,” she noted. БЕЛТА
