MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Two midget hydroelectric power plants are set to be commissioned in Minsk Oblast in 2012, BelTA learnt from head of the fuel and power engineering department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Sergei Semashko. The first plant, the Logoiskaya hydroelectric power plant will be located on the Gayna river, while the other, The Krupskaya hydroelectric plant, will be built on the river Bobr. The projected capacity of the plants is about 100 kW each. The plants are to be commissioned in 2012. The intensive construction of midget hydroelectric power plants in Minsk Oblast started in 2001, when a relevant program was approved. Over ten years, seven midget power plants have been commissioned in the region. Their aggregated capacity is 800 kW. They are Dubrovskaya, Soligorskaya, Voikovskaya, Sakovshchinskaya, Gorenichskaya, Sychevichskaya, and Zhodinskaya power plants. The program also stipulates the commissioning of a series of biogas complexes at Snov, Lan and Gastellovskoye farms. The Executive Committee of the oblast also signed an investment agreement with Enertrag AG on the creation of a wind farm in Dzerzhinsk District. Switzerland’s TDF Ecotech also plans to build a 50 MW wind farm in Logoisk District. БЕЛТА
