MINSK DISTRICT, 24 March (BelTA) - Minsk Oblast plans to implement 478 investment projects worth about Br4 trillion, of which 56 projects will be carried out using foreign investment, the chairman of the Economy Committee of Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Turchin said at an onsite session, BelTA has learnt. The meeting focused on the main areas of activities to meet the social and economic development targets for 2011. The meeting participants visited Kosvik, an export-oriented manufacturer of parquets, and Henkel Bautechnic, producer of import-substituting building materials. The region has compiled investment plans for 2011. “We need to encourage more entrepreneurs to invest in the local economy, inform them about the investment potential of the oblast,” said Alexander Turchin, adding that the district executive committees have been given orders to prepare packages of proposals for investors, allot plots of land with infrastructure and compile lists of companies for sale. As of 1 March 2011 Minsk Oblast had 342 medium-sized businesses and almost 47,000 small businesses, of which more than 14,200 were organizations, 32,700 were sole traders. In comparison with January-February 2010, the number of small businesses increased by more than 4,400 (up 10.4%). In January-February this sector of economy transferred Br249 billion in taxes and payments to the budget (43.2% of total budget revenues). The task for the next five years is to get this figure to 50%. For this purpose each district will create business incubators and business support centers. БЕЛТА
