MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – The quality of drinking water in Minsk Oblast will improve dramatically in the coming years, BelTA learnt from the head of the regional housing and utilities service Alexander Khilko. In the current five-year the housing and utilities service will focus on addressing the issues of water supply. There are plans to start the construction, reconstruction and repair of the water supply system and wastewater treatment facilities. Funding for the program "Clean Water" for 2011-2015 will be increased 7 times from 2006-2010. Over 2006-2010 a lot was done to ensure reliable uninterrupted supply of quality drinking water, to improve the quality of wastewater treatment. A total of 111 objects were put into operation, including 26 in 2010. The region built 8 iron removal plants (thus ensuring the supply of quality water to 95,000 people), 7 water towers, 86 kilometers of water pipes, etc. A centralized water supply was extended to 14 rural settlements. About Br150 billion was utilized. While developing 64 agro-towns in 2010, 32 kilometers of water pipeline and 11 kilometers of sewer networks were renovated, 46 artesian wells were restored. Work was done to transfer water supply and sanitation in rural settlements on balance of utilities companies. БЕЛТА
