MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Lithuanian businessmen are interested in implementing agricultural projects in Minsk Oblast, BelTA learned from Yelena Sushkevich, Deputy Chairwoman of the Economy Committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. Representatives of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee took part in a Belarusian-Lithuanian economic forum in Druskininkai. A presentation of investment opportunities of Minsk Oblast took place there. Investors are encouraged to invest money in industrial enterprises, agricultural companies, and tourism facilities. In particular, several tourism locations have been offered in the Naroch Lake area. Hotels, recreational facilities and hunting lodges can be built there. A Lithuanian company expressed an interest in building a factory to process milk whey in the town of Nesvizh. The project was presented at the Belarusian Investment Forum in Frankfurt am Main. The company was also interested in developing agricultural enterprises, said Yelena Sushkevich. Agribusiness attracts investors. For instance, a Russian company intends to build a dairy farm at premises of OAO Sakovichi in Logoisk District and process the milk it will produce. In addition, the possibility of setting up a BMW service center in Minsk Oblast was discussed at the economic forum. Yelena Sushkevich remarked that Lithuanian business already vigorously operates in Minsk Oblast. Over 90 joint ventures and foreign-owned companies with a share of Lithuanian capital have been created. Lithuania is second to Russia only in investments in Minsk Oblast (there are 192 companies with a share of Russian investments). The largest projects are the creation of a logistics center near the town of Rakov (BelVingesLogistic company) and the creation of a factory to process marine products. БЕЛТА
