MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Partaking in the Union State tourism event in Stolbtsy District, Minsk Oblast, will be 500 students from Belarus and Russia. The opening ceremony will take place in the Mir Castle on 5 July, BelTA learnt from director of the National Center of Tourism and Local Studies Sergei Mitrakhovich. The forum is organized to represent teams from every region of the Union State. Eight teams (100 people) from the Belarusian oblasts as well as 34 teams from 31 regions of Russia will live at the campgrounds next to the Vysoky Bereg tourist base on 4-10 July. The program includes competitions in orienteering, tourism skills, and creative contests. According to Sergei Mitrakhovich, the event is held annually in the Union State. For example, last year it was hosted by Belgorod Oblast. Such cooperation strengthens the friendly relations between the two nations. “Today, when some mass media are trying hard to exacerbate the situation, it is especially important for us to show our unity and understanding,” he said.
